ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Jonathan Van Hees of Charlestown,R.I., averaged 237 to take the first round lead in the ProfessionalBowlers Association Regional Players Championship at ThunderbowlLanes Saturday by 44 pins over Matt White of Warren, Pa.

The Professional Bowlers Association has announced AnthonyLaCaze of Melrose Park, Ill., as the 2009-10 Harry Golden PBARookie of the Year.

As a non-exempt player, the 27-year-old LaCaze had to compete inTour qualifying rounds for most Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour eventslast season to earn his way into tournament fields. In the ninthtournament of the season, he won the PBA Earl Anthony MemorialClassic in January to earn an exemption for the 2010-11 season.
